Hello all my peeps!
Good Lord, week 7 is almost over! Just imagine how much more public speaking we could have done by now! Who even knows what day it is anymore, I had to look it up. At least I have the geese to keep me company, but even they'll abandon me in no time (boohoo). I've started having full on conversations with them (and giving them names, as if I could tell them apart). But the bunnies, Black bunny, big fatty, and lil scruff are nowhere to be seen... They don't like my carrots I guess.
But, in all seriousness, things are good here :) I hope that you're keeping yourself safe and sane by doing some things you have to and some things you don't (the best days, for me, are the ones that balance these out).
You are receiving this message a bit late this week as we were on a communication ban until we knew more details from the Minister's announcement on Monday. Now I'm free to tell you a few things:
Ms. Sauvé
PS. If I have not heard back from you that you're getting the emails. All you have to do is reply "received", you don't have to engage if you don't want to, but I do want to know you're getting all the latest information. You only have to do this once. Thank you.
It's getting a low on clever memes for my taste, trying to go with my music theme. AARGH.

You are receiving this message a bit late this week as we were on a communication ban until we knew more details from the Minister's announcement on Monday. Now I'm free to tell you a few things:
- The Zoom meeting will be tomorrow, Friday at 7:00 pm, to accommodate people who are working during the day. The main goal is to shoot the breeze. I'd just like to hear from you and what you've been up to and how you are, and your concerns. Then, we'll play it by ear from there. Of course you can keep your camera off, and you're under no obligation to participate. However, if you want to, please let me know by replying to this email and with the email address you'd prefer to use for Zoom. I have 8 confirmed attendees and I will email you with the meeting link.
- I'm still playing with Instagram at msauveenglish. And most of the updates I put there can take you to more detailed material on the home page / blog of my website. I won't be following you back, or looking at your profile, so if you're worried about that, don't. Too many of you, and only one of me. And I can barely keep track of me. Social media really is stressful! Also feel free to follow Ms. Bussey who has posted some cool isolation challenges at ms.bussey. This blog did not solve my problem of interaction, so I'll have to check out another platform.
- For this week's blog, I'm experimenting with a musical autobiography of sorts. Actually I have 2 kinds going since I had a lot of fun doing them. I'll post them as Part I and Part II... So have a look. I hope it inspires you to listen to some music that I happen to love, and also to think about your life in music, and how music can or has already served you during this time.
- I know there has been a lot in the news about schools since Monday when the Premier and the Education Minister each had press conferences. If you are confused, angry, overjoyed, sad, frustrated, or anything else, please feel those feelings and give yourself the space needed during this time. We're all grieving a loss of sorts - the end of the year, being with your friends, enjoying the last beautiful months of your whole high school experience, and the loss of rites of passage like graduation and prom. As a person it takes me a long time to get to know people, especially a lot of people at one time, and it usually starts happening around the time we stopped school. I was just getting a glimpse and starting to appreciate all your quirks and characteristics and really looking forward to finishing the year with you, and especially seeing what you would have produced for your memoirs and theses. There are also advantages to all this freedom and time, but it's definitely tempered by all the things we're losing and it's perfectly fine to feel all the feelings, good and bad at the same time. The human heart is complex and cool that way. We can have totally opposite emotions at exactly the same time.
- If you have questions, ASK. I am literally here for that. Please keep me from talking to the geese!!!! Or hunting rabbit...
- For final marks... and any new work assigned... The jury is still out. For anyone currently not passing the course, we have to wait for more precise directives from the Minister, but we do know that the basis for these marks will be terms 1 &2 and the teacher's professional judgment based on the competency you have demonstrated to date.
- As for people who passed, anyone who earned 75% of better, you will be perfectly fine in college. Do not stress about Cegep English. Pay attention to your teacher, do what they say exactly. I am always here to read your work. If you're going to college and have 60-74% in English, you will also be fine, BUT I recommend you join the Writing program at your school to get tutoring and help with your papers. You want to be sure to succeed so use all the services they have at your college. I am not worried about any you, no matter your path. You have shown you are kind, strong, resilient, smart people.
- That said, if you're worried, we can talk about doing an at-your-own-pace project of some kind that you can help design to better prepare you. We still have until the end of June technically, since there are no exams. It could be a mini-thesis, or anything else you'd like to bone up on before September. In the meantime, read, write, and talk... on the regular to stay sharp.
- You will have received a communication from your SB teacher about grad and prom. But I will repeat it and what I said in my very first message to you all - Remember that CVR staff love you, we miss you, and come hell or high water we will find a way to celebrate and honor all that you have accomplished and all that you have contributed to the life of CVR. We have no idea when we'll be able to have big gatherings, but take heart that your teachers are already planning what this party will look like. We want a proper goodbye too!
