Dear Students,
As you know we are now out of school until at least May 1st. There will be no Ministry exam. Marks from terms 1 and 2 will likely form the basis of your final mark. Teachers are still not required to assign or evaluate work.
The Ministry has now released various content and suggestions for you if you want to stay fresh, scheduled, and intellectually engaged. Find this material here at openschool. In particular, check out the links to various courses prepared by Ontario teachers. There are materials here on all subjects up to the grade 12 level. As well, here is the link for the weekly Ministry activities. I'm including them all, as I think you can adapt any of them to grade 11 level. There are three poetry workshops, one scrapbook, and one photo essay. So choose your own adventure.
As they say, the most important thing is to stay mentally active - read, talk, write.
You can also work on the projects we were going to do, as all the materials you need are here, but this is optional and won't be evaluated. It's up to you. Please know that you are hard workers, smart, adaptable individuals, and good students; these are the qualities that will serve you well in your future. Trust me, you will be just fine. Don't worry about this missed school time.
The deadline for Round #2 of applications to the Educational Foundation is currently April 14, 2020. These applications are STILL happening, whether we are back for a graduation ceremony or not. So why not still apply and try to get financial support for your plans next year?
If you already applied in round #1, you ONLY need to tweak your existing letter of intent so it meets the criteria of the bursary for which you're applying listed on the Ed Fdn website, and do whatever else is required for that bursary. YES, you can apply to more than one. You need one new letter for each bursary to which you apply.
If you did not apply to round #1, you need to submit the whole package.
PLEASE prepare your applications but HOLD onto them until further notice; the Foundation is trying to figure out the best way to get them. Stay tuned.
Whatever you choose to do with your time, appreciate those you love and take care of each other. Stay safe.
Ms. Sauvé
