Inquiry Project Newscast
START by reading the assigned TASK: newscast rubric & reflection questions
Step 1. Do some preliminary research on 3 of the following topics, ensure Canadian content as much as possible:
1. Residential School system
2. Reconciliation
3. Cultural genocide
4. Loss of language and its impact on a culture
5. Environmental racism (include land back movement)
6. Access to clean drinking water
7. Artic ice cap melt
8. Endangered animals/species
Step 2. Bring your top areas of interest to the teacher. You will be grouped accordingly for this project
Step 3. Do your in-depth research on the topic assigned to your group. You EACH are responsible for your OWN research package and your research should be unique so you have NEW material to share with your group. EACH person has to fill out the research package. You are graded individually on this work.
Step 4. Share your research with your team and begin to synthesize what would be important to share in your newscast. Here is a handout to help you plan the newscast. Have a look at this student example to see what the expected outcome looks like.
